ASI Controls Joins OPC Foundation

San Ramon, CA, January 16th, 2006 – ASI Controls announced today that it has joined the OPC Foundation as a Corporate Member.  The OPC Foundation promotes open connectivity for control systems via open standards. OPC is a set of standards for data exchange between devices using different native protocols, providing interoperability between devices on different networks from different vendors.

“We look forward to working with other members of the OPC community to enhance the interoperability of HVAC digital control systems,” explained Francis Chapman, ASI Controls Marketing Director.  “End-customers have expressed a strong desire for interoperability between building control applications and equipment from different manufacturers.  OPC provides a way for equipment and systems which talk BACnet, LON, Modbus or other protocols to talk to each other, enabling devices and software from multiple manufacturers to work together as part of a single unified control system.”

Founded in 1996, the OPC Foundation has been integral to the adoption of OPC as the universal standard for data exchange in industrial process control applications.  The Foundation is currently working on the third generation of standards for data exchange and unified architecture.  More information can be found at www.opcfoundation.org

Both ASI Controls and the OPC Foundation are exhibiting at AHR 2006 in Chicago.
